CISA Requirements

The criteria for an IS audit and control professional to become a certified CISA through the Information Systems Audit and Controls Association are:

  • Successful completion of the CISA Examination (score of 75 points or higher);
  • A minimum of 5 years of IS audit, security or control experience within 10 years of applying and within 5 years of passing the exam. Some substitutions for the five years of experience are accepted.
  • Comply with Information Systems Auditing Standards and Information Systems Audit and Control Foundation Code of Professional Ethics.
  • Maintain a minimum of 20 contact hours of continuing education and maintenance fees annually. In addition, a minimum of 120 contact hours is required during a fixed 3-year period. Continuing Education Policy
