ABSTRACT Penetration tests are a method of evaluating the security of a computer system or network by simulating an attack from a malicious source.  Penetration tests are a good idea for any business with an Internet presence and for larger businesses or organization are required by many compliance authorities.  But knowing what to request for a penetration test, how to evaluate if you've been given a thorough one, and knowing what to pay for various levels of inspection can be a black art.  Mr. Olivier's talk will cover the basic types of penetration testing, what questions you should ask before you hire someone to do one, what tools do they use, what do you need to know about malicious software (malware) and reverse engineering,  and responding to incidents.
